Introduction

Kujo Jotaro is the protagonist of JoJo's Part 3, Stardust Crusaders; his elementary school days and boyhood Jotaro are voiced by Ms. Natsumi Takamori. The story is set in 1989 after DIO's revival, and Jotaro sets out with his grandfather Joseph and his companions on a journey to defeat DIO in order to save his mother, who fell gravely ill due to DIO's revival.

Ms. Natsumi Takamori is in charge of voicing Jotaro during his elementary school (boyhood) period — this kind of boyhood performance usually appears in memories, flashbacks, or family scenes, used to show what this "taciturn, outwardly cold" protagonist looked like in his youth.

The JOJO series is known for its consistently exaggerated poses and unique dialogue, and Jotaro's "Yare yare daze" is a famous line in anime history.

Personality and traits

👦 A preview of the adult image

Boyhood Jotaro already shows glimpses of his later calm and fortitude, carrying the symbolic meaning of "a hero's childhood."

🎙️ Vocal contrast

His childhood is performed by Ms. Natsumi Takamori, contrasting with the weighty voice of Daisuke Ono in his adult years.

👨‍👩‍👦 The temporal depth of the JOJO world

The boyhood performance echoes the core theme of "bloodline and family" in the JOJO series.

📖 A key touch in the flashback scenes

Appearing mostly in family/past scenes, it provides emotional subtext for "why Jotaro is so strong."

Voice actor reference

After episode 33 of "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders - Egypt Arc" aired, she tweeted "Phew... give me a break... (ふう…やれやれだぜ… (one of Jotaro's classic lines))," and was then teased by Tomokazu Sugita, the male voice actor who played young Joseph Joestar, with "Maekawa-kun, you do a great JOJO impression (前川君。ジョジョの真似してよ~。 (Maekawa-kun refers to Miku Maekawa, another character Ms. Takamori voiced))," and when Ms. Takamori saw it, she unleashed her signature move "Ora ora ora ora nyaa!!! (オラオラオラオラにゃあ!!! (a combination of the shout accompanying Star Platinum, Jotaro Kujo's Stand, when it throws punches, and Miku Maekawa's nya)))."

Character Reviews

Voicing the boyhood of "one of the toughest protagonists in history" is a delightfully interesting entry in Natsumi Takamori's résumé. This kind of "childhood completion" performance makes the JOJO family's bloodline narrative more complete, and also demonstrates the voice cast's meticulous handling of the characters' timelines.
