Introduction
Vertin is the protagonist and player-controlled character of Reverse: 1999, with Natsumi Takamori as her Japanese voice actor. She is a member of the St. Pavlov Foundation'sTimekeeperand also the only known person immune to the "Storm"—because of this rare ability, she was appointed Timekeeper by the Foundation, responsible for recording time at a moment when the "Storm" occurs frequently.
As a member of the Foundation and a mysticologist, Vertin's mystical abilities are actually quite weak, and she has received no systematic mystical tactical training, yet her perception of the mystical is extremely keen. According to Schneider's guess, Vertin is of mixed blood, but even she herself does not know the actual situation.
Personality and traits
🔍 The will to pursue the truth
Once a goal is clear, she pursues it relentlessly and never admits defeat. To uncover the truth of the "Storm," she set out on her own course of action.
🕊️ Breaking free from restraints since childhood
Since childhood she yearned greatly for the outside world and dared to break the rules. Though innocent as a child, she possessed unusual courage and ability, and drew up a "prison break plan."
🧭 Keen perception
Her mystical formulaic abilities are not strong, but her perception of the mystical is exceptionally keen, allowing her to grasp key clues amid chaos.
🌧️ The lonely recorder
For as long as she can remember, she has been clearly aware that she has always been alone. This loneliness shaped her calm and resolute way of acting.
Mystery of Her Origins
Vertin's origins are unknown. She grew up in the Foundation from childhood, and at one month old entered the Foundation's First Line of Defense School, the youngest child the school had ever taken in.
When faced with the questions of Arcana, leader of the "Manus Vindictae," Vertin once admitted that the Foundation had been collecting orphaned mysticologists from all over for human experiments, in hopes of finding a mystical antibody to the "Storm," and claimed that she herself was the only successful case. However, the first "Storm" had not yet occurred when Vertin was born, and the origin of the "Storm" remains unknown—which casts doubt on the truthfulness of these words.
On the last day of 1999, when the first "Storm" descended, Vertin seemed to see her own mother, but afterward searched bitterly and found nothing. So, while fulfilling her duties as Timekeeper, she began her own course of action, wanting to find the whole truth about 1999.

Character Reviews
Vertin is one of the most distinctive designs in Reverse:1999—a protagonist who is "not powerful, but irreplaceable." Her value lies not in combat strength, but in that unique quality of being "immune to the Storm," which makes her the axis around which the entire worldview revolves.
Her narrative arc unfolds around "who am I" and "what happened in 1999," from an orphan to Timekeeper, and then from Timekeeper to an actor who actively seeks the truth. Here, Ms. Natsumi Takamori uses a calm, slightly detached yet resolute voice to precisely sustain the texture of this "solitary recorder."
"Until 1999, when the first 'Storm' occurred—I seemed to see my mother."
