Summer Pockets: Aoi & Ao Sorakado Birthday

September 20 on Torishirojima comes in two. Twin sisters born on the same day, yet in the world of "Summer Pockets" they exist in two completely different states: the older sister sleeps in a hospital room, while the younger sister searches for butterflies on the mountain at night. What this birthday page records, then, is not a single character, but the weight of one date shared by two people.

One birthday, two faces

• Sorakado Ao｜16 years old・September 20・Virgo. A sleepy girl on Torishirojima who, upon touching the Seven-Shadow Butterfly, can glimpse others' memories — at the cost of dozing off wherever she goes. After entering middle school she took over her mother's role, shouldering the mountain rituals managed by the Sorakado family.
• Ai Sorakado｜16 years old・September 20・160 cm tall. Ao's twin sister, who fell from a cliff while trying to find the "glowing butterfly" her younger sister spoke of, and has been asleep ever since. The line she left behind, "Because I'm Ao's big sister, after all," is practically the key to Ao's entire route.

The keyword: Seven-Shadow Butterfly

The Seven-Shadow Butterfly is a creature in Torishirojima's legends that gathers people's scattered memories. On the verge of death, Ai voluntarily turned her own memories into Seven-Shadow Butterflies scattered across the island — this is both the reason for her slumber and the final link between the sisters. Touching a Seven-Shadow Butterfly lets one read memories, but it also stuffs a vast number of fragments into the mind, which is why Ao tends to fall asleep wherever she goes — "sleeping while waiting for good news" later became her signature line.

Officially, a new story was also added on the same timeline

In 2025, to commemorate the upcoming TV anime, Key published an original short story, "The Blue Sky Beyond the Dream" (author: Kai), on the official "Summer Pockets" website, with its setting confirmed to take place "after the end of Ao's route" in the original game; the official site also played a promotional PV on the outdoor large screen on Kokusai Street in Naha, Okinawa.

September 20 comes around again every year. For those following this route, the day feels more like a progress marker: the sleeping sister is still in the hospital room, and the sister walking the mountain path is still on the island.
