"Girls und Panzer das Finale: Part 5" was officially released in Japan on October 9, 2026. As the fifth installment of the six-part finale, this work depicts Ooarai Girls' Academy facing St. Gloriana Girls' College, led by Darjeeling, in the final match after winning the semifinals of the Winter Infinite Track Cup, and Arisa Shimada, who transferred into St. Gloriana in order to fight Miho Nishizumi once more, also stands on the stage of the final. On October 17, the official side held a stage greeting at a movie theater to commemorate the release, with Ms. Yuka Iguchi (Mako Reizei / Pekoe), Ms. Misato Fukuen (Anzu Kadotani / Cranberry), Ms. Kana Ueda (Momo Kawashima / Vanilla), and Ms. Natsumi Takamori (Rosehip / Ram) taking the stage, with Ms. Shiori Izawa serving as MC.

The self-introductions are full of "dual-role" talk

Right at the start of the stage greeting, the voice actresses' self-introductions tied closely into the special arrangement of this fifth installment—each of them plays characters from both Ooarai Girls' Academy and St. Gloriana. Misato Fukuen first greeted everyone as "Cranberry," then added, "Ah, I also play Anzu Kadotani," and couldn't help saying, "My mouth still isn't used to it." Ms. Kana Ueda opened with "Vanilla, and Momo Kawashima," and Ms. Natsumi Takamori likewise introduced herself as "Rosehip, and Ram."

Among this "dual-role" lineup, Ms. Natsumi Takamori's situation is the most unusual. Her main role was originally Rosehip of St. Gloriana, and Ram was the dual role. Yuka Iguchi pointed out this amusing detail on the spot: "Everyone says the name of their Ooarai Girls' Academy character first, and only Takamori-chan puts the Ram role afterward." Ms. Natsumi Takamori was then asked, "So after all, you want Rosehip to win?" She paused first, and under everyone's pressing, finally answered with a smile: "But either side winning is fine." She explained that precisely because both sides are serious, "no matter which side wins, I win"—and this remark lightened the mood considerably.

"Dual roles" are a voice actress's long-cherished wish: Yuka Iguchi's long wait

At the stage greeting, Yuka Iguchi revealed that she had actually always wanted to try dual roles. She said that even if she wanted to play dual roles, it was hard to find the right timing, "you'd feel like, 'hey hey' if I acted here." When someone was needed to take on a dual role, although she wanted to raise her hand and say "I'll do it," she would worry that "if Ms. Iguchi plays it, it'd be a bit, well, that." Misato Fukuen agreed, saying that if Iguchi spoke as part of the Anglerfish Team while also taking on other roles, "you'd think, don't steal the spotlight."

However, Yuka Iguchi eventually got her chance. She recalled with a smile that she was thinking, "How nice, how nice, it's a dual role," and before she even had to speak up, her name was already written on the application form—"it's finally here." She even momentarily thought, "With this, won't Mako stop speaking?" but was immediately teased on the spot with "It's not like that"—after all, Mako does have important emotional scenes in Part 5.

The 4DX experience: "Mako's voice" from next door and the illusion of a date

When the topic turned to the 4DX and MX4D viewing experience, the atmosphere became even livelier. Yuka Iguchi mentioned that she had already watched the 4DX version together with Misato Fukuen and Kana Ueda, and that Kana Ueda was sitting right next to her. Iguchi described that the most amusing part was Ueda beside her shouting "oh—oh—" in Mako's voice; she couldn't help teasing, "Voice actresses, huh, they want lots of lines," but she herself also got so into it that she cheered along out loud.

Yuka Iguchi went on to say that seeing Kana Ueda next to her laughing "hehehe," she stole glances from the corner of her eye while feeling "kind of like a date." This remark drew laughter from the venue and conveyed the good rapport among the voice actresses.

Behind the scenes: What's hidden on the tablet isn't work data, but a "lunch-buying lottery"

Yuka Iguchi also brought up a behind-the-scenes story she heard from director Tsutomu Mizushima. She mentioned the scene where the Fisheries Team discusses something while holding a tablet; at first glance it looks like they're handling important work data, but looking closely at the tablet screen, what's written is actually a lottery (amidakuji) for who goes to buy lunch. She said that this kind of detail has a chance of being seen in the Dolby Cinema version because the picture is brighter and the details in the shadows are clearer—"someone actually saw it today."

This behind-the-scenes story also echoes the technical background of Part 5's first-ever Dolby Cinema release. Dolby Vision's "0% black" keeps details in the shadows from being lost, while HDR expands brightness and color expression, and combined with Dolby Atmos's three-dimensional sound field descending from the ceiling, the tanks' details, the flashes of explosions, and the low-frequency impact become even more immersive. For the "Girls und Panzer" series, long known for "going to the theater to hear the sound system," Part 5's release in all five formats (Regular / Dolby Cinema / Dolby Atmos / 4DX / MX4D) is undoubtedly the series' most complete theatrical experience to date.

Yuka Iguchi's closing remarks: Darjeeling's retirement, and the decisive battle still one win away

The stage greeting drew to a close with Yuka Iguchi giving the closing address. She admitted that she wasn't the president yet was speaking last, "this is my first time experiencing this," and, as the "representative of the Anglerfish Team" and also as a member of "St. Glo," expressed her feelings about the completion of Part 5. She said she had thought Part 6 was still far away and that the finale wouldn't end so soon, but after watching such a wonderful Part 5, "I really feel that next time it will be over," and excitement and loneliness welled up at the same time.

This sentiment is also tightly linked to the tone of Part 5's story. In the opening footage, Darjeeling states that after graduation she will retire from tankery and go to England to study the history of tea, and that she hopes to end her tankery career with a victory. On St. Gloriana's side, there is Arisa, who transferred in to fight Miho again, forming a partnership with Darjeeling that the official side calls the "Two Jewels." The convictions that neither school can yield make this Winter Infinite Track Cup final a true "fated showdown."

Finally, Yuka Iguchi closed the stage greeting with "Panzer vor." Amid an atmosphere of "still one win away," Part 5's box office had already surpassed 313 million yen five days after release, exceeding the previous work's same-period result by 128.4%. Whether Darjeeling can retire with a victory in her final battle, and whether Miho and Ooarai Girls' Academy can overcome the high wall of St. Gloriana—the answer is in the theater.
